Last week: US bond markets (which dictate interest rate movement) benefited from a strong week in European bond markets, which offset the strong jobs report that was released late last week. Thus, mortgage rates held their ground. After such a strong employment report, there is speculation the Fed reserve will increase interest rates at next month’s meeting.  Current rates (excellent credit, SFR, owner-occupied): This week, we open with conventional rates at 3.50% for a 30 year loan and 2.75% for a 15 year.    Future/Overview: Rates do seem to be trending upward and election results do sometimes cause spikes. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2016) – There were 3,324 home closings reported for the month of October, according to figures provided by the Greater Nashville Association of REALTORS®. This figure is up  9.7 percent from the 3,030 closings reported for the same period last year.      Year-to-date closings for the Greater Nashville area were 32,696 at the end of October. That is an increase of 4.5 percent from the 31,282 closings, reported through October 2015.       “We are continuing to sell more homes with effectively less inventory every month, and that’s keeping the Nashville market among the hottest in the country,” said Creswell. “We finished 19th on the list of the hottest markets for October according to Realtor.com, and were the only southern state, not including Texas, to make the list.
